What's the scoop on workout clothes?
One important thing about working out is the clothes you wear doing it. I have learned after working out in long sweat pants and t-shirts for years that it really IS more comfortable to do work up a sweat in actual athletic clothes.

If you’re like me and you’re looking to save a little money check out your local thrift store for good workout finds. Buy an old and oversize t-shirt and cut it up to upcycle into a workout tank top. I’ve used this tutorial and love the outcome. Make sure that the clothes you buy are ones that you’ve either tried on at the store or that the store has a decent return policy. The last thing you want is to be purchasing clothes that you feel ridiculous in and thus will never wear when you workout. (Notice I said “when you workout” that’s right we’re at the when part of this; it’s now or never! Okay that’s a little dramatic but you get my point.)
Other places to scope out are the superstores like Wal-Mart or Target. Both have athletic attire in their stores and the brands are really good. Target is a higher price point than Wal-Mart, however, if you can catch some of Target’s clearance prices you’re going to find pieces to add to your wardrobe that rival some consignment shops. Wal-Mart carries Danskin Now and I really like their clothes. Now they run small size-wise so trust me and buy a size up from what you normally wear.

If you want to make a statement and love supporting WAHM made products check out Firedaughter on Etsy. Samyra screen prints every one of her t-shirts so each one really is one of a kind. I had the opportunity to review this tank top by Samyra and while I don’t like wearing cotton to workout in I love wearing this tank. It’s very lightweight and really soft. Samyra is a mom of two and the wife of a Fire Captain in Phoenix. Striving to create a line of apparel that the daughters of firefighters could wear Samyra began Firedaughter Clothing creating shirts that showed her pride for her husband’s job and the sacrifice the family makes. Then she started making inspirational workout clothes as she’s an avid marathon runner (now turned boxer!). With quotes such as the one I have from Shakespeare, “Though she be but little she is fierce,” and “Girl on Fire” from the Hunger Games, wearing one of Samyra’s creations will definitely add that extra sass into your go get ‘em attitude. Plus, Samyra is a pleasure to work with. She treats each and every customer as if they were her life long friend and desires to create only the best quality shirts for her fans.
Tell me what your favorite workout clothes are! Where’d you find them?
Yours truly,
Bert
