Cloth Diaper Tip: How to wage war on cloth diaper stains!

Posted by Julie on 5/14/2013 to Cloth Diaper How-To
Stains suck! There I said it. Just when you think you're taking great care of your cloth diapers and keeping them stain free...then all the sudden for no apparent reason you've got stains galore!

So how can you wage war on these pesky unwanted cloth diaper stains? Read on and find out!

First, I'd never consider something an actual stain unless you've washed it a couple times and tried sunning and it's still there.

Sunning is the most effective, most natural and free way of ridding your cloth diapers of stains. 30+ minutes exposed to the sun's strong ultra violet rays and your stains should be on their way out of town. rlr, stains, cloth diapers

RLR Laundry Treatment

Next, try RLR. RLR helps dingy diapers get their brightness back. This single use laundry treatment sells for just $1.99 each and removes buildup from your diaper laundry and washing machine. It's a definite must-try if you feel your diapers have seen better days. You may just be surprised at how much buildup you had.

Buncha Farmers Stain Stick

Heard of Buncha Farmers? It's an all natural stain stick designed to get out even the toughest of stains. Blood, poop, red wine, grass, you name it and Buncha Farmers can treat it.

Again, stain managmement doesn't have to cost a fortune. The sun is free, RLR is just $1.99 and the Buncha Farmers stain stick is just $4.99. So stop crying over staining and do something about it, try these easy and affordable methods.

I've done all three. The sun is great. But if you can't sun, Buncha Farmers is awesome. Love it!!

Sunning has always worked for us too. I have bleached my diapers every 6-9 months or so as well, even though manufacturers say not to. Good to know there's a natural alternative!

Sunning worked ok on my Grovia liners. They got paler at least. There's tons of tree around my apartment, so I have to chase the sun around.

I dry our prefolds on the clothesline as often as possible & usu RLR around once a month for hard water mineral buildup. Good to know it helps the staining as well!

I've heard great things about Buncha Farmers. I'm going to have to break down and buy some. A lot of people have also recommended sunning. I've just been worried about the diapers lightening from sun bleaching. Does that happen at all? And I don't think I have enough build up for RLR, but it's great to know about for when I might need it.
