This post covers some easy ways to use your diaper covers and wetbags more between washings.

A common question is "How much use can you get out of your covers without washing?" Well this is often left up to the users discretion. If the cover is starting to smell like urine, is discolored or gets poop on it, then it's time to wash.
So how can you get more use out of them?
The trick is to prevent the urine smell, discoloration and poop from affecting the diaper cover.
This is where cloth wipes come in. You can use disposable wipes but they create more waste and more expense. Use a damp cloth wipe, washcloth or other wet rag and wipe out the diaper cover before putting it back on the baby. This helps prevent the urine smell setting in too soon and can virtually render the diaper cover clean again.
With poop, depending on how and where the cover got soiled, you can often also just wipe that clean.
What about wetbags?
Wetbags are similar to covers. You're storing soiled diapers, wipes and inserts inside them and they don't necessarily need to be washed with the cloth diapers.
Try turning your wetbag inside out, wiping both sides with a wet cloth wipe and hang to dry. You'll find that you can often get days of use out of a webtag before laundering it.
Note: It's important to realize, the less you wash the less wear and tear your covers and wetbags will be going through and you'll be saving yourself a ton of work as well.
So what do you think? Have you tried wiping out covers and/or wetbags in order to get more use out of them? How does it work for you?
