Babywearing: Features to Look for in a Newborn Baby Carrier

Posted by Bryana on 10/30/2013 to Getting Started
Baby carriers are an ideal option to provide convenience for on-the-go parents, but the options are endless, and choosing the right one for your family is overwhelming. A few options in hands-free babywearing include wraps, ring slings, front carriers and back carriers, but there are a wide range of additional features available as well.

DiaperJunction.com has an extensive selection of baby carriers to suit your newborn's needs. BabyHawk carriers allow you to carry your baby on your front, back or hip and offers a tie closure for custom fit. These convenient carriers are available in many colors and prints and offer padded comfort for your little one.
The Boba baby carrier allows you to switch between front and back carrying and is made from 100 percent natural brushed cotton, so the fabric does not irritate your baby's sensitive skin. High density foam provides for ultimate comfort, removable foot straps offer extra support and a removable hood protects your baby from the elements.
Dolcino woven wraps are made from 100 percent organic cotton, a feature that environmentally friendly parents adore. These wraps are constructed using yarn and non-toxic dyes to ensure they do not irritate your newborn's skin while providing unmatched support. A variety of colors make this versatile wrap fun for parents.
ERGO carriers are made of high-quality materials to keep you and your baby safe and comfortable. The cotton lining is soft on baby's skin, while high density foam protects your shoulders. Adjustable shoulder and chest straps make the carrier convertible, so both mom and dad can use it with ease.
Maya ring slings are perfect for babywearing or breastfeeding and adjust to fit a variety of body types. Shoulder pads keep you comfortable, and light, soft fabric keeps your little one cool and comfortable. Choose from a variety of colors, and use the handy storage pocket to keep track of your cell phone, keys or cash.

No matter what style of baby carrier you decide is right for your growing family, find something you love at Diaper Junction. With a wide range of baby carriers to choose from, there is no shortage of fun and functional features to suit your needs and keep both you and your newborn comfortable.

I love my Maya ring sling! My son was so tiny that it took a long time before he made it up to 8 lbs so I could use it, but it is so handy and I always get lots of compliments. Plus, it is like magic for putting him to sleep for a nap!

I have seen babyHawk and love the idea/look... would love to try them. I own a Boba right now, and while it can be a little warm here in the humid south east, it's so comfy and after doing a lot of homework I'm still convinced I made an excellent choice! I <3 it.

I've been thinking about getting a ring sling (we already have an Ergo carrier) but I don't really like all the extra fabric it comes with. I think I would get annoyed by the really long tassle at my side. But I hear they are fabulous for breastfeeding!

I loved the moby wrap when my daughter was a newborn, her dad liked the bjorn just because it was so much easier to put on. But now that she's 17 months i still comfortably wear her in my moby :)

I'm struggling to figure out the best way to babywear my 3 month old twins. I use the Moby wrap and can only wear one baby at a time. I love it though because it puts them to sleep so fast. I bought a second Moby hoping I could figure out how to make it work but it's not remotely comfortable with both on. Neither my mom nor my hubby wants to deal with the Moby wearing learning curve (as far as putting it on) so I'm going to have to explore other options to figure out how I can get them both on my body at the same time.

I loved the Pikkolo when my son was a NB -- lightweight for a SSC, no insert needed, easy to nurse in!

I like my ring sling but I'm really wanting a mei tai as baby gets heavier.

I love my Ergo now, but for the newborn stage I used a Moby. It always won if there was a sleep battle!

I have a Moby & a ring sling and prefer the Moby every time! I feel my child (especially as a newborn) is more secure in the Moby than the ring sling. I used the Moby with my first till he was about 14 months and decided he should walk everywhere! I am now using it again for our 5 week old!

I can't wait to get a baby wrap. The carrier I have was never comfortable, and has only gotten less so as my baby has gotten bigger. It's time to upgrade.

We loved our Ergo! But I suggest to all my friends to get a wrap during the newborn stage. We had the insert but I started using it one he was big enough to use it without it.
