Diaper rash is a very upsetting thing for many parents, and although it is very rare that babies get diaper rash when you use cloth diapers, it can sometimes happen. And it is a little known fact that you shouldnít use just any diaper cream for cloth diapers. There are certain creams that should not be used with cloth diapers at all, and certain ones that should.

Diaper rash happens for some babies, even with cloth diapers. Some babies just have sensitive skin. Although the natural fabric instead of the synthetic disposable diapers is much less likely to cause diaper rash on a baby, it can still sometimes happen. It will usually happen overnight with plastic diaper covers, and occasionally for other reasons. Diaper rash can be irritating at the least and often very painful for a baby. Mothers hate to see their baby get diaper rash. Diaper rash creams of all kinds are available, but you canít use every diaper cream for cloth diapers. Some of them have different materials in them that will be harmful to the cloth in the diapers themselves. Diaper rash creams that have petroleum in them, such as petroleum jelly, will cause the diapers to become water-resistant and stains will not wash out of them. This will basically render the cloth diapers useless and you will have to throw them away.

There are some special types of diaper rash cream for cloth diapers, but you can really use almost any kind as long as it doesnít have petroleum in it. All that you have to do to make sure that it is a suitable diaper cream for cloth diapers is flip the cream over and look at the ingredients. As long as it will not make the cloth diaper resistant to water, it is just fine. If your baby gets diaper rash with cloth diapers, then you will need to find diaper cream for cloth diapers. Avoid petroleum and you will be fine, even if you donít buy the exact special diaper cream for cloth diapers. Petroleum is what you should stay away from, though.
