Snappi Diaper Fasteners are an EASY way to FASTEN Cloth Diapers!

If the thought of using diaper pins for cloth diapers makes you a bit squeamish, you will be very excited about the safe, hygienic and easy-to-use Snappi Diaper Fasteners. Available in a broad array of colors, this stretchy non-toxic diaper fastener is designed in a T-shape, bearing gripper hooks on each end. The grippers will "grab" the back "wings" of your baby's cotton prefold diapers, securing them firmly to the diaper's front panel.

Though many of today's cloth diapers do not require any kind of diaper pins/cloth diaper fasteners, the Snappi Diaper Fastener is certainly a worry free way to fit your baby's diapers to them snuggly, allowing them enough natural movement to be comfortable.

Snappis work the best with prefold cloth diapers; we have found that terry cloth diapers and any other style of cloth diaper with a loose weave works well also, however, Snappis do not work with the tightly woven flannel diapers.

Preparing your Snappi Fastener for Use.

When you receive your Snappi Diaper Fastener, it is essential you spend some time STRETCHING it before using it. Stretching the fastener loosens it up a bit so it isn't so stiff, plus the stretching triggers a sort of "memory" for the Snappi to recognize how far it can stretch and still return to its original size.

Stretch the Snappi by holding it in the center with one hand and with your other hand, grab close to the end of one of the legs and pull. Do not grab the Snappi by the rings. Repeat this about 10 times for each "leg". You will notice the material begin to soften up and become more elastic. Once you do this for each leg your Snappi Diaper Fastener is ready for use!

How to Use a Snappi Fastener to Secure a Cloth Diaper.

The Snappi Fastener is easy to use, but if you ask most people they will tell you it took a few tries to get it right, not unlike learning how to use diaper pins for cloth diapers for the first time, but without the added concern of poking baby! Follow these simple instructions and you'll get the hang of it in no time at all!

How to use a Snappi Diaper Fastener
  • Pull the front panel of the cloth diaper up, through baby's legs and press it against baby's stomach.
  • Then, grab the left or right edge of your baby's prefold cloth diaper, pull it around your baby to meet the front cloth diaper panel, and press in the grippers of the matching leg of the Snappi into the fabric wing; you feel it sort of "hook".
  • Now grab the opposite edge of your baby's cloth diaper, bring it around baby and press it against the front cotton panel. Holding the remaining top leg of the Snappi, pull it across the front cotton panel to hook into the opposite cloth diaper wing. Again, you should feel the grippers "lock" into the fabric.
  • You can see the top of the "T" is in place - holding the left and right cloth diaper wings. The next step secures the fastener and diaper.
  • The final step to secure your baby's cotton prefold diapers is to press down on both the left and right "hook" ends of the "T" and pull the third and final leg of the Snappi down to hook in the center of the front cotton panel. Your "T" now more closely resembles a "Y".

Again, you will want to practice this a few times, but once you've got the Snappi Diaper Fastener locked in place it isn't going anywhere; it will hold the diaper nice and snug and your baby will not be able to undo it. At this point you can pull on a Bummis Whisper Pant, or just about any other style of cloth diaper cover.

A few warnings: Though you should not have to worry about your Snappi Diaper Fastener if correctly affixed to your baby's diaper, do not need to leave them laying about where baby can get his/her hands on them; they are not toys and the gripper ends could hurt baby if unattended. Snappi recommends replacing the diaper fastener every 6 months and not leave them lying in the sun as they are not UV resistant and it can reduce the effectiveness of the Snappi Diaper Fastener. Finally, if for any reason your Snappi develops a tear, has a loose piece, or shows any sign of cracking, it needs to be replaced.

Snappi Diaper Fasteners are easy to care for…simply wash in hot, soapy water and leave to dry. Try to not launder them with your cloth diapers as the tumbling may weaken the grip attachment.

If you're tired of using diaper pins for cloth diapers, we know you will be pleased with the Snappi Diaper Fastener!

Love them! 8/21/2010

I got these when I first started CDing. I use them on DSQ prefolds with Thirsties Diaper Covers. They were the safest and most cost effective option for keeping the dipe in place. I have bought a second round of them and they great but I have had the little handles break off on a few of them but they are still usable. I will continue to buy them however, because I really like using the prefolds. 4 stars because I have notices a decline in durabilty compared to the first batch

I have pins but they take me longer and I have to use both hands. Snappis are so much faster. I can fasten with one hand while I hold diaper in place with the other. Plus I don't worry about poking the baby.

I love the Snappi! It is so easy to use and really holds the diaper together well. I wouldn't even consider using anything else.

Snappi's are the best! They hold the poop in and keep things less messy. The only thing I was surprised at, is that the plastic portion you pull at to keep it snug breaks. The first two lasted for 6 months before breaking and the one broke after a couple of weeks. But with that being said, I love snappi's and will always use them!

Snappis are awesome! We've been using prefolds and covers on our little guy for now until he can fit into some of the other styles of diapers and the Snappi is a lifesaver! It holds everything together and is incredibly easy to use. SO much better than relying on pins that could poke the baby!
