Cloth diapers have come a long way in recent years which has greatly increased their popularity. There are hundreds of designs to choose from and many different styles too. There are some tips you can keep in mind when you are shopping for cloth diapers to help you in making sure that you choose the right ones for you and your baby.
Prefold Cloth Diapers
These are the cloth diapers that have been around for decades and they are versatile, inexpensive and long-lasting. They are usually made from a hemp or cotton material, making them very absorbent. You will need to learn how to properly fold them and secure them with pins, but this is not difficult to do.
Contoured Cloth Diapers
These are similar to prefold diapers, but they have an hour-glass shape to them so that you do not have to do as much folding. These are also inexpensive, but you will need pins to secure them. You can find these in different colors and they tend to absorb well.
Fitted Cloth Diapers
These are a type of cloth diaper that require no folding as they are made to fit a baby's body. They will have Velcro or snaps built into them so there is no need to use pins to secure them. These come in a variety of materials and designs and can be found for varying prices all over the Internet.
Pocket Cloth Diapers
This is the cloth diaper that has become most popular in the last few years. It is shaped like a regular diaper and it has a pocket that allows you to add additional absorbent materials. The outside of the diapers are waterproof so you will not need to use any additional shells. These are easy to use because they secure with Velcro or snap closures.

Great info. I just wanted to point out that prefolds don't have to be secured with a pins. Simply trifold the prefold, place it in a waterproof diaper cover and put on the baby. There are also flats that are wonderful too. they're one big flat single layer piece of ( usually cotton or other natural fibers) material. they're extremely cheap, easy, and versatile.

I also think it's important to remember your lifestyle and think about how different styles fit into your lifestyle. I hate stuffing diapers, but have no problem with Prefolds and covers. It also helps they are the cheapest. :-)
